ASP
A biological ETP ASP refers to an Effluent Treatment Plant that treats industrial wastewater using the Activated Sludge Process (ASP). In this method, wastewater first undergoes primary treatment such as screening and equalization, after which it is directed to an aeration tank where air is supplied to support microorganisms that break down organic pollutants like BOD and COD. The mixed liquor then flows to a secondary clarifier where sludge settles, producing clear treated water at the top; part of the sludge is recycled back to the aeration tank while the excess is removed. This process is widely used in industries such as textiles, tanneries, and food processing because it is effective and relatively economical. However, it requires skilled operation, produces large amounts of sludge, and is sensitive to sudden changes in wastewater quality.
